On September 11, 2001, 19 military people associated with the group al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and carried out a suicide mission against the United States. Two of the planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade center in New York, a third one hit the pentagon just outside Washington D.C, and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Often referred to one of the biggest attacks in United States history. The attacks resulted in broad death and destruction, triggering major U.S. initiatives to combat terrorism and defining the presidency of George W. Bush. Over 3,000 people were killed during the attacks in New York City and Washington D.C. including more than 400 police officers and fighters. There is also family members of loved ones who died in this attack. Sixteen years ago the United States wasn´t focused on any wars or violence. Barely anyone knew about Al-Qaeda or Osama bin Laden, and ISIS didn´t even exist. A month after 9/11 U.S. troops invaded Afghanistan and tried to get rid of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group that claimed responsibility for the cause of 9/11. I think the 9/11 terrorist attack had a big impact on the U.S. and everyone who had a loved one die on that day. I think this attack will affect the United States in the future but thatś just my opinion. On the day of 9/11, there was so much destruction and deaths but there was one awesome thing that happened on that day we came together as a country. It always helps to learn a little bit more about the history so we never make the same mistake.
