Where? The 9/11 attack happened on a sunny Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001. In downtown Manhattan New York at 8:46 a.m. American airlines flight 11 traveling from Boston to Las Angeles struck the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. The plane was piloted by plot leader Mohamed Atta. A second plane hit the south tower of the World Trade Center and caused a big burning hole on the side of the building. The third plane of American airlines flight 77 hit the western side of the Pentagon just outside Washington D.C. The fourth United airlines plane, flight 93 crashed down in a field in rural Pennsylvania. The plane that landed in Pennsylvania did not go to its assigned target in the United States because the passengers on the plane tried to take control of the wheel. It has been said it took the attackers almost two years to plan this attack. There was one inspiring hero from 9/11 and her name was Roselle, a yellow lab who led her owner down 78 stories in the north tower. This attack killed over 3000 people in planes and on ground. This attack happened to be in one of the most populor states in the United States. Terrorist attacks are not as common but it can still happen.
